Meet Dr. Karina Quiroz, DVM
Dr. Karina Quiroz is a dedicated veterinarian with a lifelong passion for animals, beginning with her dream to become a veterinarian in kindergarten. Dr. Quiroz is a Southern California native growing up in the high desert and is now happy to be practicing in San Diego county.
She graduated with her Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science at Cal Poly Pomona. She then graduated from Western University of Health Sciences with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree, solidifying her dedication to providing exceptional care to all animals. While Dr. Quiroz loves all animals, she does have a great appreciation for feline medicine.
Outside of her veterinary career, Dr. Quiroz enjoys gardening, painting, cooking, and baking. Additionally, she cherishes spending quality time with her cats, Graycie (sweet gray tuxedo) and Stella (tiny, but spicy calico).
MEET DR. KATIE REEDER, DVM
Dr. Katie Reeder grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, enjoying all the fun of SEC sports through college at the University of Georgia. After graduating from Auburn University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 2018, she moved to Central California to work with dairy cows, expecting to spend her career in large animal medicine. However, she discovered a passion for small animals, which led her to transition into general practice.
Dr. Reeder enjoys general practice medicine because it encompasses everything from sick animal workups to solving dermatology puzzles for individual pets and creating working relationships with owners. In her personal life, she channels her energy into running and enjoying any extra time with her Belgian Malinois in competition. These interests have sparked a deep passion for canine rehabilitation, and she is currently pursuing certification as a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner (CCRP).
Now settled in San Diego, she loves exploring the area’s trails and vibrant triathlon scene when she’s not busy with her veterinary work. Dr. Reeder is committed to providing compassionate care to her patients while continuing to evolve her expertise in veterinary medicine.
MEET DR. KNOX MS, DVM, CCRP, CVA
Dr. David Knox, who has been recognized for outstanding alumni achievement, is a 1992 graduate of Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama.
Dr. Knox is a native Southern Californian who graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science from Cal Poly Pomona. Dr Knox was later accepted into Auburn University and earned a Master’s Degree in Veterinary Physiology & Pharmacology. His next step was acceptance into the AU College of Veterinary Medicine. In 1992 Dr. Knox graduated with his Doctor of Veterinary
Medicine and was told to go out and make the world a better place.
Dr. Knox’s first job was in a mixed animal practice in Merced, CA. The rich diversity of mixed animal practice, along with the no-nonsense approach to veterinary care in farm country, helped him to develop a practical and rational approach to medicine. Dr. Knox believes strongly that his most important diagnostic tools are his 5 natural senses as well as his intuition.
Dr. Knox has a special interest in Animal Physical Rehabilitation as well as a truly integrative approach to veterinary care. In 2013 he earned a certification from the University of Tennessee for Animal Physical Rehabilitation making him one of the few veterinarians in San Diego County to hold the CCRP (Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner) designation.
In 2017 Dr. Knox attended the Chi Institute in Reddick, FL to study small animal veterinary acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine. The addition of veterinary acupuncture (CVA) has been a great addition to Dr. Knox’s toolbox of medical care.
Dr. Knox has been a dedicated member of the Escondido business community for over 20 years, a long-standing member of the Escondido Chamber of Commerce, and an active participant in community events.

Dr. Paul "KiAtswn" Paez, DC
Animal Chiropractic
At a young age Dr. Paul felt the connection to animals and the desire to be part of the healing profession. It would take 30 years before a lifelong dream of working with animals would come to fruition.
A few years after graduating with a Doctorate in Chiropractic he discovered Animal Chiropractic and enrolled in the premier training program established by the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association in Texas. Since 2005, Dr Paul has been providing Chiropractic care for animals of all sizes and breeds from chickens to llamas, to dogs and cats.
His passion is in helping dogs and cats with common musculoskeletal conditions to improve their mobility and overall wellness.
Meet Dr. Allyn Meyer, DVM
A San Diego native, Dr. Meyer graduated from The University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine and then pursued additional training through an academic internship in avian and exotic animal medicine and surgery in Seattle, WA.
Dr. Meyer enjoys general practice because it allows her to build long term relationships with her patients and the people that care for them. She has an interest in dentistry, imaging, preventative medicine, soft tissue surgery, and dermatology. She is excited to join Dr. Knox and his team and continue to provide loving, high-quality veterinary care to the community.
In her free time, Dr. Meyer enjoys volunteering for multiple organizations. She has been a proud FACE Foundation supporter for many years and serves on their advisory committee.
When she is not surrounded by animals, Dr. Meyer and her husband enjoy traveling, surfing, camping, and hiking with their Catahoula Leopard dog mix, Baloo.
